Hyderabad travel will be more memorable if one tours to Nagarjuna dam, one of the tallest masonry dams of the World. This dam is the main source of water irrigation to the lands in Guntur, Prakasam, Nalgonda, Khammam and Krishna districts. It is located on the borders of the Nalgonda and Guntur district at a scenic setting. The height of the dam is 124 meters and I kilometer long. Built on the Krishna River this dam has largest network of canal systems.

A Lake is emerged on the edge of the dam which is touching the Nagarjuna Konda Island. Visiting this dam one will see an old Buddhist remnant renovated now for tourists. It is sited on the right bank of the lake. One can explore the stupas, viharas, monasteries and a sacrificial altar in the Buddhist abbey. The Nagarjuna idol is located near to the dam.
The scenic landscapes and backdrop of the dam is a feast to the eye. One will feel relaxed just strolling in and around the dam.
One can also explore other attractions adjacent to the Dam like Ethipothala waterfalls, and the densely forested Srisailam Wildlife Reserve. A museum is located near the dam which can by reached by a boat ride.
